Work is underway on the second section of our line between Boucieu and Lamastre. It seems that almost the entire track needs to be lifted and replaced in preparation for full resumption of services of Le Mastrou steam train in 2013. This is the scene at our local station, Arlebosc Central, which must be one of the smallest anywhere.
Markus is in negotiations with the chef du chantier to acquire some of the old sleepers so that we can reuse them to finish the new garden terrace.
The chef, although charming and the owner of a lovely dalmation, is a bit difficult to pin down so for the moment we are just having to be patient.
In the meanwhile there is no danger invoved in walking over the viaduct and counting how many sleepers you can cross whilst balancing on the line before you fall off. . . best record so far is 53!
