Kate is originally from England and Markus is from Switzerland. We have lived in Paris most of our lives and fell in love with a ruin in the Doux valley thirty years ago. Once we had completed the house renovation we had more time to explore our area. We both love walking and quickly realised that we are in the heart of an amazing network of hiking routes.
We were struck that this corner of France is so little known and unexploited and we became convinced that this was a secret worth sharing.
So we had the idea of putting together a walking holiday offering a well thought out selection of walks and activities which would allow visitors to feel they could really get to know the Doux valley during their stay.
In 2006 we ran our first Walksweeks and were delighted to find that our guests were as impressed as we are by the peacefulness of this corner of France and the variety of landscapes to discover in a walking week. Part of the idea was that our guests would enjoy living at Les Sarziers as much as we do, and would be able to draw on our wealth of local knowledge: from where to get the best cheese to historical insights and local legends.
We have worked for many years as professional tour managers and have personally selected and walked every route for you. We really know how to look after you and make sure that you experience the best our area has to offer
